Generation Engage, Members of Congress,

Launch “Politics through Art Initiative”

On Thursday, September 29, Generation Engage and members of Congress launched the Politics through Art Initiative, an innovative plan to promote political expression through the visual arts.  This special exhibition was held at Ralph Laurens new Georgetown (Washington, D.C.) storefront, included 300 friends of Generation Engage, members of Congress, national media, and was keynoted by Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE) and Congresswoman Linda Sanchez (D-CA).   Hagel and Sanchez, long-time supporters of youth-engagement-efforts and strong proponents of open democratic discourse, voiced their support for the organization’s efforts to engage non-college youth in the political process.

“No group of Americans is as directly impacted by the decisions government makes everyday than younger Americans,” said Sen. Hagel.  “Generation Engage continues to encourage young people to actively participate in their community, in their government and in their future.”

Now more than ever we need to engage young people in the political process, said Congresswoman Linda Sánchez. Generation Engage has done a phenomenal job in encouraging young people to get involved and use their collective voice to shape the future of our country.
